Knowing When to Stop

Sometimes I just can't leave well enough alone, especially when it comes to faces.  I messed with this poor girl's face way too long, till she had wonky eyes and goofy lips!  So ... now she has no face at all ... maybe I'll revisit her face tomorrow.  LOL

Stamped Pears

I've been wanting to try this for a while.  You carve your design into a foam tray (like a carry-out container), then roll on the paint and stamp onto the paper.  Not as easy as it seemed ... I need to figure out how to make it neater, but it's kinda cute I think.

Distressed!

Today I'm experimenting with some distress stains I just got.  With these stains and water, you get some really interesting effects!  The colors are much more vibrant than these pictures show.

This one would make a cool fabric

Cattails

Not real cats this time.  Please tell me what you think of this one.  It's something different for me.

Cats!

These guys always make me smile ... can't help taking pictures!

Don't you wish you could sleep like that?
Who IS that handsome cat in the mirror?

Collages

You can probably tell I like to work in all kinds of art mediums.  Here are some collages I made for clients (okay, they're family) using cut/torn paper, paints, stencils, etc.  Thanks to my family for loving my art - you're the best!

Hoping for Spring

I love watercolors - they're so forgiving, especially for amateurs like me.

Fabric ATC's

For those who don't know, an ATC is an Artist Trading Card and is 2.5" x 3.5".  Here are some ATC's I did for a swap - the directions were to use fabric on your ATC.

Paint + marker on muslin
Alcohol inks + marker

Watercolor/micro-pen/fabric
Watercolor/marker/fabric

A Gift From Japan

My son, who lives in Japan, recently visited his girlfriend Chihiro's family in Kobe.  Chihiro's mother kindly sent me this large picture made by her mother of cut paper.  Can you imagine?!  The image is hand-cut from one piece of black paper.  I am so thrilled to receive this!

Colorful!

This top piece is watercolor + marker.  I "salted" the purple watercolor to get a different effect. The heart was done with water-soluble oil crayon - I like the graffiti-like effect you can get with those.  Clearly my photography skills are lacking - sorry.
