What Fun!

These are envelopes I decorated for a swap over at Elevated Envelope. The theme I chose was Lucky 2013 because it's Chinese (Lunar) New Year time, and it's the Year of the Snake.  I had great fun with this.  The backs of the envelopes are also decorated.  Now to address them and put 'em in the mail.

Which is better?

Two little ladies ... one is a simple micro-pen drawing, the other I painted.  Sometimes I think simple is better.  What do you think?

Art Journal Favorites

I like to use my art journal as a place to experiment with techniques and materials, rather than using it as a daily "diary."  Here are some pages I kinda like.

Acrylics

Marker and water-soluble oil crayon
Acrylic, watercolor, scrapbook
paper & leaves cut from
a magazine
I followed a tutorial in Traci Bautista's
Doodles Unleashed book.  I love her stuff.

Three Sisters

An art journal page I doodled ... me and my sisters (I'm in the middle).

Since it's almost Valentine's Day ...

A few heart-themed pieces I've done to frame and hang in my guest room, which has a red theme.  Mixed media on heavy watercolor paper.

I love Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, which is where I found the directions to make the little winged heart trinket below.

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

Here are some love-themed artist trading cards I've made, three of which will be on their way to Kim G. in the mail for the Blissful Art swap.

These are actually my grandparents as a young couple.
I copied their photo on to waxed paper and burnished it onto the ATC.

Meet The Boys

These guys love to be in my art room with me, either observing or "helping" (I have cleaned up quite a few messes and paint pawprints thanks to them).  But I love 'em anyway.
